About Yang, Jwing-Ming, Ph.D

As a child, Jwing-Ming Yang learned patience and endurance throughout nine years of his youth in wartime Taiwan, during which his family of nine often went without food for days.

Dr. Yang spent his youth studying the traditional arts, and managed to work his way through an education in physics and mechanical engineering, earning a Ph.D from Purdue University. He then worked as an engineer for Texas Instruments.

Seeing the misconceptions of the traditional Chinese arts and culture in America, he was compelled to retire from his engineering career and dedicate his life to preserving the arts. Since 1982, he has systematically developed an international organization of 55 schools in 18 coutries, with thousands of students worldwide. Simultaneously, he formed a publishing company to research and publish books and instructional videos which have since become the standard by which all other materials on the subject are measured.

In short, the CA Retreat Center project is the culmination of Dr. Yang's steadfast efforts over the past 35 years, which will ensure his legacy will continue for generations to come.
