Now is the Time
Dr. Yang is in a unique position; carrying the legacy of the generation of the old masters, and possessing the understanding of a new generation, he has dedicated his life to bridging the East and the West, and researching the ancient arts with a modern scientific perspective.
As the YMAA Retreat Center develops, it will be a beacon, leading by example to reestablish the model of the ancient way of training, while forging ahead with a comprehensive curriculum that includes many more aspects of classical Chinese culture. Based on a high level of morality education, and emphasizing the development of art instead of violence, it will lead future generations to the path of self-discipline, humility, responsibility, confidence, and compassion.
The graduating students of the YMAA Retreat Center will possess a high level of expertise in many traditional Chinese arts, including internal healing arts and meditation. They will be capable of properly guiding the continued synthesis of the Eastern and Western sciences, each branching out to teach countless others the skills they have mastered and continuing to develop the arts.
Since 2004, the infrastructure has been established, including a solar array for sustainable, off-the-grid power, a spring-fed well, and the living and training facilities. The 10-Year Training Program will commence in August 2008.
